Size Guide

Every Valeriu Furtuna ring is made to order, in your size. That's why a few minutes spent measuring carefully are worth it. If you have any doubt at all, write to us at valeriufurtunadesign@gmail.com and we'll help you choose.

We use European (EU) sizing, which equals the inner circumference of the ring in millimetres. For example, size 54 means a 54 mm circumference. The table below also gives the inner diameter and the US and UK equivalents.

How to find your ring size

1. At a jeweller – the most reliable method. Any jeweller can measure your finger with a set of sizing rings. Ask for your size in the European (circumference) system.

2. With a ring you already wear. Choose a ring that fits well on the finger you're ordering for.

  • Place it on a ruler or, ideally, measure it with a caliper.
  • Measure the inner diameter, from one inside edge to the other, straight through the centre, without the thickness of the metal.
  • Find the value in the "Inner diameter" column of the table.

3. With a strip of paper. Cut a strip of paper about 5 mm wide.

  • Wrap it around the base of your finger, snug but not tight.
  • Mark with a pen where the paper overlaps.
  • Check that the loop also slides over your knuckle.
  • Lay the strip flat on a ruler and measure the length up to the mark, in millimetres. That number is your EU size.

Use paper, not thread or string: they stretch and give the wrong size.

Tips for the right size

  • Measure at the end of the day, at a normal temperature. Fingers swell in heat and after exercise, and shrink in the cold or in the morning.
  • Measure 2–3 times, at different moments, and keep the value that repeats.
  • The ring should slide over the knuckle with slight resistance and not spin freely at the base of the finger.
  • Between two sizes, choose the larger one. A slightly loose ring is easier to adjust than a tight one.
  • Wide bands need more room. For a wedding band or ring wider than about 5 mm, go up half to one size.
  • Your dominant hand is usually slightly larger. Measure the exact finger and hand the ring will be worn on.
  • Surprise engagement ring? Discreetly borrow a ring your partner wears on the same finger and measure its inner diameter. You can also send us a photo of the ring next to a ruler.

Resizing

Most rings can be resized by one or two sizes after delivery, for a fee, where technically possible. The exceptions are full pavé (eternity) rings and some designs with stones set all the way around, which cannot be resized without affecting the setting. For these, we recommend checking your size with a jeweller before ordering.

Bracelets

Measure your wrist with a tape measure or a strip of paper, just below the wrist bone. Add 1–2 cm for a relaxed fit, or about 1 cm for a closer fit.
